Fraud Prevention Policy

Honest sellers deserve a marketplace that takes fraud seriously. Here is how we screen submissions and what happens when something does not look right.

Last updated: July 30, 2026

1. Our position

MyCardSell buys only legally obtained gift cards. Fraudulent, stolen, manipulated, or unauthorized cards are rejected. We would rather turn down a transaction than process one we are not confident about.

2. Controls we run continuously

  • Automated balance verification on every submitted card before any redemption.
  • Duplicate-card detection that blocks the same card from being submitted twice.
  • Pattern monitoring across submissions, email addresses, payout destinations, and devices.
  • Manual review by our team for higher-value or unusual submissions.
  • Secure, access-controlled storage of card data with logged administrative access.
  • Ongoing review of transactions for security purposes at any stage of the process.

3. Identity verification

In suspicious situations we may request identity verification, proof of purchase, or photos of the physical card before completing a transaction. These requests are made only where they are needed, and any documents supplied are handled under our Privacy Policy and removed when no longer required.

4. Seller authorization as a safeguard

Requiring explicit seller authorization before redemption is itself a fraud control. It confirms that a real, contactable owner is behind the submission and gives you a clear checkpoint to stop the transaction if anything is wrong.

If you ever receive an authorization email for a card you did not submit, do not approve it. Forward it to support@mycardsell.com and we will investigate immediately.

5. What we do about suspected fraud

  • Decline the submission and leave the card unredeemed.
  • Hold or reverse a payout linked to a fraudulent submission.
  • Suspend or close the associated account.
  • Cooperate with card issuers, payment providers, and law enforcement where appropriate.

6. Protecting yourself

  • MyCardSell will never ask you to buy a gift card to pay a fee, a fine, or a debt.
  • We never ask for your password, and we never request payment in cash.
  • Our only support address is support@mycardsell.com. Treat any other address as suspicious.
  • If someone pressures you to send gift card codes urgently, stop and report it.

7. Reporting a concern

If you suspect fraud involving MyCardSell, a submission, or a message claiming to be from us, email support@mycardsell.com with as much detail as you can. Reports are reviewed by our team and treated confidentially.
